Dass Santiago Ascacíbar bei dieser U20-WM mit 7,5 Millionen Euro den höchsten Marktwert aller teilnehmenden Spieler hat, kommt nicht von Ungefähr. Für seinen Jugendklub Estudiantes de La Plata kommt der im Februar 20 Jahre alt gewordene defensive Mittelfeldspieler bereits auf 43 Pflichtspielen – darunter auch Partien in der Copa Libertadores, dem südamerikanischen Pendant zur Champions League.

"Klassisch robuster 6er" = über 1,85, breit gebaut, kopfballstark etc.
Man kann durchaus robust spielen ohne eine Kante zu sein. Kanté ist ja auch kein Schrank mit seinen 1,68.

In der argentinischen Tageszeitung "El Dia" aus La Plata wird Ascacibar zum gescheiterten Wechsel zu Zenit befragt. Dass er ruhig bleibe und die Zeit zeigen werde, wo er spielen wird. Es ist die Rede von einem ernstzunehmenden und sehr guten Angebot aus Europa, genauer gesagt aus der Bundesliga.
Im oben verlinkten, noch aktuelleren Artikel schreibt die Tageszeitung "Hoy", ebenfalls La Plata, dass Ascacibar nach Europa wechseln würde. Im Lostopf sind laut dieser Quelle Leipzig, Mainz, Stuttgart und Borussia Dortmund.
Wenn man jetzt noch unbedingt möchte, könnte man anhand des im Eröffnungsposts verlinkten Tweets des Journalisten Cesar Luis Merlo ableiten, dass der VfB die heißeste Fährte nach Europa sein dürfte...

Während Durm kurz vor der Unterschrift stehen soll, laufen mit Santiago noch die Verhandlungen. Er soll bis 2022 unterschreiben.
Laut Bild verhandelt der VfB noch mit Santiago Ascasibar.Zumindest mal eine deutsche Quelle, die gab es bei Cordova z.B. nicht.

Hubo reunión entre la dirigencia de #Estudiantes y el agente de Ascacibar. Restan pequeños detalles para que vaya al Stuttgart por u$s 8M.
Update von der Originalquelle: Die/der Berater von Ascacibar haben sich mit der Vereinsführung von Estudiante getroffen. Es seien nur noch kleine Details zu klären um den 7 Mio Deal abzuschließen.

Es que Stuttgart ofreció ocho millones de dólares brutos por Ascacíbar, quien aceptó la inmediatamente la propuesta y en los próximos días firmará un contrato por cinco años en Alemania luego de frustrarse su salida al Zenit de Rusia.
De esta manera, el jugador no formará parte de la delegación que viajará a Paraguay para enfrentar el próximo miércoles a Nacional por los octavos de final de la Copa Sudamericana.

Estudiantes de la Plata have reportedly received an offer of €8 million for the midfielder and all signs point to a transfer taking place. Per a report by TyC Sports, Estudiantes have apparently accepted the offer and the contract will be signed within the next few days. Edith weist aber darauf hin, daß TyC als genannte Quelle nur davon berichtete, daß ascacíbar unmittelbar angenommen hätte.
