Omar Rekik joins Arsenal - Defender arrives from Hertha
Omar Rekik has left Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin and joins Arsenal. The Gunners made the deal that will bring the 19-year-old Tunisian with a Dutch pass to London official on Thursday. Rekik signed a professional contract, per club policy Arsenal did not specify the length of the deal. The center-back will at first start for the North Londoners' U23 side in the Premier League 2.
This season, Rekik primarily featured for Hertha BSC II in the Regionalliga Nordost. He joined the club in 2017 from Olympique Marseille and played for the U17 and U19. A transfer was considered only a matter of time after his brother Karim Rekik joined Sevilla in the summer transfer window. Hertha will receive around €600,000 as part of the transfer.
