Manny Perez joins AC Horsens - Louisville City FC receive transfer fee

Louisville City FC have sold right-back Manny Perez to Danish 1.Division club AC Horsens. Transfermarkt understands that the USL Championship side received a transfer fee in the region of €50,000 plus incentives upon promotion for the 24-year-old former US men’s national team youth midfielder.

With Perez leaving the club, Louisville City have now sold three players to Europe over the last three years. The two-times USL Championship winners sold Jonathan Gomez to Real Sociedad for just under €100,000 plus add-ons to Real Sociedad in 2022 and then last year sold wonderkid Joshua Wynder for €1.12m to Portuguese giants Benfica.

Louisville are part of an increasing trend that sees USL Championship clubs sell directly to Europe. In fact, with that transfer the club based in Kentucky moves just behind Orange County SC on the list of USL clubs with the most exports to Europe.

As for Perez, the right-back will now get an opportunity to play in Europe. A former US men’s youth international, Perez has played 12 games for his country at the U23, U20 and U18 level. It will also be Perez’s second stint in Europe. In 2019, Perez joined Scottish giants Celtic but never featured for the first team.
